Wedding Venue Case Study · Historic Waterfront Hotel

The Lord Nelson Hotel

A Grade II listed hotel on the Milford Haven waterfront, growing every year but barely known beyond Pembrokeshire. By mid-September, 12 weddings had been booked through VenueFlow.

01The Challenge

James and Justin bought the Lord Nelson in March 2023, restored it and reopened that June. Weddings grew every year, from 3 in 2023 to 13 in 2025, but the hotel was still a local secret.

  • Reach was the biggest problem: couples outside the area did not know the hotel existed
  • No CRM and no paid advertising
  • Enquiries arrived by email, phone and Facebook, and every one was handled by hand
  • No follow-up system after a couple had viewed the venue

02The Approach

We gave Jenna one place to manage every couple, then put the hotel in front of far more of them.

  • VenueFlow CRM, with every brochure request followed up automatically by WhatsApp and email
  • Meta campaigns at £15 a day driving brochure requests
  • A creative refresh in July with offer-led ads, once the first round had started to tire
  • A personal video from Jenna added to the follow-up sequence
  • Monthly social media content for the hotel's Instagram

03The Results

The July refresh was the turning point.

  • 12 weddings booked through VenueFlow, worth £56,942
  • £1,585 of ad spend turned into £33,967 of weddings booked from the ads, a 21x return
  • Cost per lead dropped from £5.10 to 76p the week the new creative launched, and bottomed out at 73p
  • Brochure requests jumped from around 20 a week to over 110 a week, and held there for two months
  • Over 1,000 brochure leads captured in VenueFlow
We picked up so much momentum. The enquiries coming in, I had so many viewings, and they were becoming bookings. It was doing really well.

The takeaway

Ads wear out. The same £15 a day that was buying £8 leads in June was buying 73p leads in July, because the creative changed, not the budget. Watching cost per lead every week and refreshing before it drifts is how a small budget keeps paying back.
